PVC Wall Panel Installation Guide
Plan your CHILTAN PVC wall panel project before cutting or applying adhesive. The information below is general guidance; product instructions, adhesive and sealant requirements, local codes, and the conditions at your job site control.
Panel specifications
- Approximate size: 4 ft × 9 ft × 3 mm
- Approximate coverage: 36 sq. ft. per panel
- Material: decorative PVC interior wall cladding
- Compatible finishing profiles: edge, corner, middle/joint, and end trims
Before you begin
- Measure the wall height and width, then allow for cuts, pattern placement, and reasonable waste.
- Open and inspect every panel before installation. Do not install material that is damaged, incorrect, or visibly unsuitable.
- Plan the full-sheet pattern, panel direction, joints, corners, openings, and trim locations before cutting.
- Confirm that the substrate is clean, dry, sound, reasonably flat, and compatible with the selected adhesive.
- Allow panels and installation materials to acclimate when required by their instructions.
Tools and materials
Your project may require a tape measure, level, straightedge, suitable cutting tools, protective equipment, compatible adhesive, sealant, spacers, and matching trims. Follow the tool, adhesive, and sealant manufacturers’ safety and application instructions.
General installation sequence
- Measure the complete wall and mark a level starting line.
- Dry-fit the panel layout and verify pattern placement.
- Cut openings and edges carefully while protecting the decorative face.
- Apply the compatible adhesive according to its coverage, open-time, and substrate requirements.
- Position the panel, check alignment, and apply the required pressure.
- Install the appropriate trims and seal joints, edges, corners, and penetrations where the project requires it.
- Remove protective film at the proper stage and clean only with methods safe for the finish.
Bathrooms and shower surrounds
The decorative panel alone is not a substitute for a required waterproofing assembly. Wet-area performance depends on the substrate, waterproofing where required, compatible adhesive, sealed seams, corners, perimeter edges, fixture penetrations, ventilation, and ongoing maintenance. Use a qualified installer for showers and other continuously wet locations.
Quantity planning
A full 4 × 9 ft panel covers approximately 36 sq. ft. before deductions for cuts and waste. Divide the wall area by 36 for an initial estimate, then account for pattern matching, openings, damaged-cut risk, and future repairs. Contact CHILTAN for help planning larger or mixed-finish orders.
